... in all things ... in every season!
May I please be an encourager through the thoughts that came to my heart as the 3rd candle of Chanukah was being kindled here in the UK … a 3rd song being ignited within my heart to sing and share with you. My heart is that G-D would encourage each and every one of us in the place right where we are, while also inspiring us to keep stepping out, moving forward and stepping into all He has put in our hearts to be and to do in Him and for Him … that the dreams and visions He has placed within each of us would come to fruition … and here’s the key … in His perfect time.
This caused me to think of the word “Opportunity” I shared with you yesterday. And then I remembered this week’s Parsha - Yosef finally being set free from prison. So it got me thinking …
About the places in our own lives where we have perhaps felt squeezed or in a very tight place … perhaps there are times where we have felt frustrated because things weren’t happening quickly enough …
almost like seeing an open door just up ahead but not being able to reach it just yet. And sometimes, just before that promise of breakthrough is about to happen, another door can be presented to us, tempting us to walk through it out of desperation. G-D closes the door and we can find ourselves feeling unsure … but I can say from my heart … “G-D has a plan in all these things!” Which I am sure we can all relate to … but in the time of waiting and being squeezed from the outside, we can find that HaShem is squeezing out and bringing to the surface all that’s on the inside. If we will be brave enough to allow ourselves to be exposed - who we really are - to become vulnerable in G-D’s hands during these times, and not run from the work He is trying to achieve within us, then we can suddenly find a new freedom rising from the inside out … a freedom that moves us forward into the plans and purposes of HaShem. Did Yosef have to be set free from within himself first … to be humbled by the Hand of HaShem … I am inclined to say yes … what say you? What we might remember is this: we don’t have to be sitting in a prison to feel a prisoner … and likewise one who sits in a prison can be freer than one who walks on the outside … my heart cannot help but turn to the scriptures of Isaiah 61!!
I wonder if when the two men presented themselves to Yosef whether he saw it as his way out? An opportunity presented itself and Yosef was prepared … he used the gift that HaShem gave to him regardless of where he was; he may have thought and hoped that it would bring immediate freedom from the prison he was in … BUT HaShem had a plan and as we read on, we see that in His perfect time, the cupbearer does finally make mention of Yosef. It calls to mind of us being prepared in season and out of season … being prepared at all times … like a bride being made ready for the coming of The Bridegroom.
I don’t know what you think, but I tend to think that Yosef would not have been ready for the task HaShem was preparing him for had he been released before G-D’s perfect time. Was HaShem refining Yosef’s character, teaching him and growing him even in prison … what do you think? My answer would be a definite yes. G-D’s timing is not our timing as we know … but He always gives us opportunity right where we are if we will look for it and be ready when it presents itself.
And I finish with the words of Ecclesiastes 3 which begins with “to every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven … and in verse 11 where it says …
“HE HATH MADE EVERY THING BEAUTIFUL IN ITS TIME.”
So let us hang on to Him in the tough times as we move forward while waiting for the dreams and the goals - the vision - HaShem has put within our hearts. Let us keep on praying that G-D will teach us and mold us and refine us like gold … that we may pour out the living waters of Mashiach to those who cry out from a dry and barren land …
Shabbat Shalom !!
